Yet to hit theaters in the States, Sisu: Road to Revenge has already garnered rave reviews from critics, resulting in an impeccable 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. A direct sequel to 2022’s Sisu, the action-thriller recently premiered at the 2025 Fantastic Fest and seems to have left the viewers wanting more.
Sisu: Road to Revenge starts off with great reviews
Written and directed by Jalmari Helander, Sisu 2 sees Jorma Tommila reprise his role as the ex-Finnish army veteran Aatami Korpi. The sequel follows the journey of Korpi, who returns to the house where his family was brutally murdered during World War 2 in order to dismantle it. However, the Red Army general, who assassinated Korpi’s family, soon learns about the former commander’s return, resulting in a high-octane, cross-country pursuit.
Rocco T. Thompson of Slant Magazine praised Sisu 2’s intense action sequences in his review, writing, “Much of Road to Revenge plays like a spectacularly gory silent film, with Aatami taking out scores of Red Army soldiers in action scenes that are as inventive as they are incredibly funny.”
Loud and Clear Reviews‘ Roberto Tyler Ortiz shared a similar sentiment for the Sisu sequel, stating, “Sometimes all you want from a movie is pure, unapologetic carnage, and Sisu: Road to Revenge delivers that in spades.”
Dexerto‘s Chris Tilly lauded the “wall-to-wall action and consistently creative kills” of the film. He then highlighted the strong emotional core of Sisu 2, stating that “the hero’s personal journey carries a powerful message about the futility of war.”
Meanwhile, Matt Donato of IGN Movies described Road to Revenge as a “post-WWII blend of Mad Max: Fury Road and a Fast & Furious sequel,” adding that it provides a “ludicrous and punishing take on the same fantastic action-forward indulgence as its predecessor.”
Sisu: Road to Revenge Rotten Tomatoes score is even better than Part 1
The excellent early reviews for Sisu: Road to Revenge have also led to the sequel opening to a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%. As such, the follow-up edition to Jalmari Helander’s 2022 film has managed to surpass the Rotten Tomatoes score of the original Sisu feature, which stands at an impressive 94%. With Road to Revenge currently on track to premiere on the big screen on November 21, 2025, it will be interesting to see if it can also overshadow the 88% audience score of its predecessor.
