Jusan Hamilton and NASCAR have parted ways at an interesting time
Jusan Hamilton is one of the two races directors that NASCAR uses full-time throughout the season.
Today, as reported first by Bob Pockrass, Hamilton and NASCAR have parted ways. Hamlin has long-time been a NASCAR official.
No reason was given.
Race directors control the race from the tower. It’s their call whether or not to throw the caution flag among other important officiating aspects of the race.
Hamilton has been employed by NASCAR since 2016. He has held multiple positions within the company.
His departure is interestingly timed. Rumors are circulating that NASCAR is considering a change to the playoff format, even possibly going back to a full-season championship battle seen for decades prior to the introduction of the playoff format.
Hamilton served more roles within NASCAR than simply a race director. He was also a part of putting together the season schedule.
This is not the only change in NASCAR leadership this week. Yesterday, it was announced that Chip Wile will depart NASCAR at the end of the season. Ben Kennedy will assume his chief track properties officer responsibilities in 2026.
Tim Bermann will be the sole-remaining race director for the remainder of the 2025 season.
This weekend, NASCAR is racing as Kansas Speedway. The NASCAR Cup Series is currently in the Round of 12 within the NASCAR Playoffs.
Kansas TV Schedule: September 2025 (NASCAR)
