Former Celtic winger Paul Slane reckons one Hoops star will be too good for Hibs on Saturday.

Celtic last played in the Scottish Premiership two weeks ago when Kelechi Iheanacho’s penalty beat Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Since then, Celtic have progressed to the semi-final stage of the Premier Sports Cup and drew their opening Europa League game with Red Star Belgrade.

Now it’s Hibs for the Bhoys at Celtic Park and Slane has backed Iheanacho to be a real handful for David Gray’s men.

Iheanacho already has three goal contributions in three games for Celtic, his last a strike against Belgrade on Wednesday evening.

It’s clear the Nigerian has made Celtic better in attacking areas, and Slane told Open Goal that he will be too hot for the Hibees to handle in Glasgow.

He said: “I think with the Thistle game with Iheanacho going up front, I just think he makes Celtic so much better. He will start and I just think he will be too much for Hibs.

“Honestly, I think with Iheanacho being up there, they just look like so much a better team.”

Iheanacho can make leaky Hibs pay

Hibs may be sitting fourth in the Premiership at the moment with the team yet to lose a league game, but they have a rather leaky defence.

Nine goals have been conceded by the Easter Road outfit in the league, with only Falkirk and Livingston letting in more so far this season.

Hibs have conceded seven in their last three matches in all competitions, the previous two coming against a very poor Rangers side.

This could be Iheanacho’s chance to score his third Celtic goal, perhaps even more given Hibs’ defensive vulnerabilities.
