Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen continues to show his skills behind the wheel. This time, he dominated during his GT3 debut.

Verstappen joined Emil Frey Racing at the Nordschleife in the Nurburgring Endurance Series. He and co-driver Chris Lulham took over a Ferrari 296 and delivered the overall victory after a jaw-dropping performance.

Verstappen, who won last weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, qualified third for the GT3 race at the Nordschleife. He then went from third to first on the event’s opening lap with a bold move in Turn 1.

The Belgian did not simply maintain the lead at the course known as the Green Hell. He built upon it. He had a 43-second lead by the 10th lap of the endurance race. He then pushed this advantage to a full minute by the 14th lap.

Lulham then took over the Ferrari 296. He kept the race car ahead of the competition to the checkered flag. He crossed the finish line 24.5 seconds ahead of the Ford Mustang GT3 featuring Dennis Fetzer, Jann Mardenborough, and Fabio Scherer as the drivers.

“The first two stints went really well, the car worked perfectly in the dry,” Verstappen said after winning. “We had a bit of bad luck in qualifying, but in the race everything with the traffic worked out fine.

“I think I didn’t make any major mistakes in those two stints. And to win here on my very first attempt, that’s just fantastic.”

This dominant performance at the Green Hell comes only two weeks after Verstappen obtained his racing license and became eligible to compete in the GT3 race. However, he gained some crucial experience at the course in May when he tested at the course under the pseudonym Franz Hermann.

If Verstappen has his way, he will not be one and done in GT3 competition at the iconic circuit. He expressed the desire to take on the Nurburgring 24 Hours. For now, however, he will try to overcome the 69-point deficit while trying to chase down championship leader Oscar Piastri.
