CARY, N.C.– Valery Gynina and Gabia Paskauskas wrap up the Gators’ time at the ITA All-American Championships in the consolation rounds.
Paskauskas’s main draw bid ended with her two-set loss to No. 10 Piper Charney of Michigan in the round of 32. This put Paskauskas into the same bracket as Gynina in the consolation rounds, starting in the round of 32 against Kentucky’s No. 57 Julia Zhu. Paskauskas defeated Zhu 6-4 and 7-6(3) to face off against No. 90 Alyssa Ahn of Stanford who she beat 5-7, 6-2, and 6-4. Her final match was set against No. 17 Mao Mushika (Cal) in the round of 16, but Paskauskas withdrew from the tournament before the start of the match.
In the consolation rounds, Gynina won the qualifiers round of 32 against UCLA’s No. 81 Mayu Crossley in three sets (6-2, 2-6, 6-4) moving her into the main consolation round of 32. In this round, Gynina faced off against Ahn but fell in a tight three-set competition (6-4, 4-6, 5-7).
