Ryan Blaney, last week’s winner at New Hampshire, was unable to set a time in qualifying. A practice crash following a cut tire prevented him from making a qualifying attempt. Similarly, Joey Logano cut a tire during practice, but avoided an incident and more serious damage to his No. 22.

Nevertheless, Logano was 35th out of the 36 cars that did take time in qualifying from the 37-car field.

Michael McDowell qualified 21st, but will start at the rear of the field after failing technical inspection multiple times prior to practice. Travis Peterson, crew chief of the No. 71 Gainbridge Chevrolet, has been ejected for the remainder of the Hollywood Casino 400 race weekend.
