Police are searching for three suspects who are wanted in connection with an early morning home invasion in Hamilton.
The incident happened at a residence in the city’s Gibson neighbourhood, near Birch Avenue and Wilson Street.
Hamilton Police Service say on Saturday at about 2:30 a.m. the home’s residents were awoken by the sound of a smashed door.
They say three unknown male suspects “stormed into the bedroom demanding money.”
One of the suspects then allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded money, while the other two rummaged through the house.
After a brief standoff, aall three fled the house on foot. Police say they were last seen heding northbound on Birch towards Cannon Street East.
The first suspect is described as a white male and 15 to 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured sweater, dark pants, and a black balaclava, and carrying a dark-coloured backpack.
The second suspect is also a white male and 15 to 25 years old. He also wore a dark-coloured sweater, dark pants, and a black balaclava, and carried a dark-coloured backpack, while the third is a light-skinned Black male and 15 to 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured sweater, dark pants, and gloves, and allegedly brandished a firearm.
Police say they’re “actively investigating” this incident and are appealing to residents in the area to check their CCTV cameras or dashcams for anything suspicious between 2:00 and 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
