DUBLIN — Last Sunday, Kevin O’Connell headed off any potential consternation about his starting quarterback this week.
The Minnesota Vikings’ coach named veteran Carson Wentz the starter for the Week 4 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Ireland. It made sense. Young quarterback J.J. McCarthy still hadn’t returned to practice.
That’s still the case. McCarthy was with the team on Friday on the campus of Sport Ireland, but his high ankle sprain is not yet fully healed.
O’Connell said Friday: 💬 “Have not even thought about (the future) from a standpoint of anything other than, when can we get him back on the practice field? And then it’s, how fast can we get him acclimated?”
