A casting agency says it’s trying to find Canadians prepared to host groups of Americans for dinner parties in the coming months.

In a news release, Milo Casting said it’s working on a “Canadian tourism activation.” Not many details of the end product were readily available.

The agency wants to find “passionate home dinner-party hosts who are willing to host dinner parties in the interest of welcoming American travellers to Canada and sharing your local culture.”

Your local culture should mean more than Doordashing Mary Brown’s. “You are either a passionate home cook or a passionate host of catered dinner parties,” the news release continued. “Your true passion is making special evenings for guests in your home.”

What your home is like doesn’t really matter, Milo Casting added, as long as you can host two to four guests and are within two hours’ drive of “a major Canadian airport.” (Yellowknife counts, and the company was in touch with Cabin Radio specifically looking for NWT-based hosts. If you’re elsewhere in the territory, the word “major” might be an issue.)

“Hosts chosen for this campaign will be paid a $1,500 stipend, plus $500 for food, for up to three dinner parties,” the news release concluded. That would mean a total of up to $6,000 if you hosted three events.

On its social channels, Milo Casting is similarly trying to find Americans to take up the offer and come eat at your place.

There would be an initial video call in October if you’re chosen, then dinner parties on certain pre-arranged weekends between November and February.

To apply, you need to fill out a surprisingly long and detailed online form that also requests photos inside your home and a video of you.

“We’re looking for real energy – don’t be afraid to show your personality,” Milo Casting stated. “Whether you’re funny, warm, quirky or loud, we want to see you.”
