As tariffs disrupted supply chains and costs soared in remote regions, one interior designer found creative ways to keep quality high and clients happy. That designer? Sudbury’s own Lauren Perry.

Lauren Perry Interior Design, a Sudbury-based firm led by ARIDO and NCIDQ-certified designer Lauren Perry, continues to make its mark on the Canadian design industry with global access and local heart.

Recently recognized by national outlets including Martha Stewart and The Spruce, Lauren Perry has grown from a small northern studio into a trusted full-service design firm.

Perry’s path to founding her own firm was built on strong foundations. She spent over a decade working with Perry + Perry Architects, a firm run by her father and uncle, both well-known architects in Northern Ontario. That legacy, combined with her professional credentials and entrepreneurial vision, has shaped the studio’s commitment to excellence.

“Growth comes from staying flexible. The ability to pivot keeps us current, relevant, and always aligned with our clients’ evolving needs.” Expanding beyond design services, Lauren now offers access to exclusive products, allowing clients to have global access while supporting a local firm. “It’s a win-win.”

Lauren regularly attends conferences, most notably High Point Market, to research and study the products she offers, ensuring clients have access to the latest, highest-quality furnishings and design innovations

“Our clients are discerning, brand-savvy, and have well-developed tastes. We make it our priority to provide them access to the finest products, regardless of geography.”

Living in the North comes with unique challenges, higher costs, longer waits, and fewer suppliers.

Yet Lauren has built the networks to overcome these barriers, bringing world-class products to the region and ensuring every project is as distinctive as the client it’s designed for. When tariffs disrupted furniture supply chains, the challenge was especially daunting for a firm built on procurement. Rather than passing these costs on, Lauren worked directly with suppliers and brokerages to negotiate pricing, reducing the impact on her clients and underscoring the value of strong industry relationships.

“Our region is home to incredibly successful and talented people who deserve spaces that reflect their achievements. That’s why we’re dedicated to offering unique, one-of-a-kind spaces that won’t be found next door.”

But for Perry, design is about more than products , it’s about relationships.

“We value lasting relationships. When we welcome a new client, it’s with the hope of supporting them well beyond a single project,” says Perry. “Whether it’s their primary residence, vacation property, or company office, our goal is to become a trusted design partner for life, serving not just our clients, but their families for generations .”

This long-term vision, rooted in trust and service, allows the firm to add enduring value.

Supported early on by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), the firm has scaled into a multi-faceted business offering interior design services, project management, and curated wholesale supply. Yet at its core, the firm remains committed to inspiring the lives of those they serve. NOHFC was a critical element in the firm’s success, providing the support needed to establish a strong foundation for growth. “This investment allowed us to scale right out of the gate.”

In just three years, Lauren Perry Interior Design has not only scaled by over 75% but has also made giving back a cornerstone of its growth. The firm proudly supports Neo Kids, the Northern Cancer Foundation, and Kivi Park, organizations that have had a profound impact on Perry’s family.

Having lost her mother to cancer at a young age and now navigating her son’s health challenges, Lauren understands firsthand the power of these charities. “When I’m faced with challenges, I always return to the basics, community, movement and nature.”   For her, Kivi Park represents more than just trails and green space, it’s a lifeline for families. “Kivi Park offers all three, it’s why I believe so strongly in this initiative for our community’s wellbeing.”

With a growing portfolio spanning North America, Lauren continues to set the standard for the industry. As the only independent registered designer in the north, she offers a professional process combining industry standards with a personalized, high-touch experience. Whether it’s a new build or simply furnishing a home, Lauren Perry Interior Design proves that design can be both globally connected and proudly local.
