WILTON MANORS, Fla. (WFOR) – An MMA fighter in Florida put his skills to the test after a man broke into his home.
Henny Rojas has been training for three years as a mixed martial artist.
“I’m prepared,” he said. “It’s not my first time. I don’t feel pain. Nothing.”
Early Saturday morning, an intruder forced his way into Rojas’ family home in Wilton Manors.
“I don’t have guns, wasn’t looking for a knife, just God and my hands and that’s all,” Rojas said.
As 31-year-old Austin Caresani faced a judge a few hours later, Rojas said it’s clear he was no match for his fighting abilities.
Caresani’s face appeared to be black and blue from the blows delivered by Rojas. Caresani also told Wilton Manors Police he had been drinking at a local club and was attempting to go to his friend’s house, who he said lives in the area.
Patricia Rojas is Henny Rojas’ sister. She and her husband were out in Miami last weekend when they got the terrifying call from their teenage son, who had alerted Henny Rojas to the stranger in the living room.
“He was saying uncle wake up,” Henny Rojas said.
Austin Caresani uses an apartment address located in Deerfield Beach.
WFOR attempted to contact family members, but no one answered.
Caresani remains in jail.
Henny Rojas said he would not change a thing if he was given another chance.
“Protect your family,” he said. “There are a lot of crazy people out there who are looking for damage.”
