BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M men’s golf standout Shiv Parmar landed SEC Freshman of the Week status the league announced Wednesday.
 
The SEC recognized Parmar for his stellar performance at the talent-laden Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational presented by Charles Schwab. The Aggie rookie tied for eighth place in a field which featured six of the top eight teams in the most recent Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll.
 
Parmar shot a 1-under 69 in Tuesday’s third round to wrap up the tournament at 1-over 211. He penciled in three birdies at the par-70, 7,289-yard Colonial Country Club. Parmar was two strokes away from joining the five-golfer playoff to the determine the winner.
 
The Selma, Texas, native, who earned a t-9th at the season-opening 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational, owns top 10s in his two collegiate appearances.
 
The Aggies return to action Sunday at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills in Wisconsin.
