Real Madrid are reportedly in the market for an elite talent, but they will face competition from Manchester City for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid will battle Manchester City for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise in the summer transfer window, the latest report has claimed.

The Spanish side beat Kairat 5-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday, with the club winning their second European game of the season.

Boss Xabi Alonso has overseen a positive start to life in the dugout, winning eight of his first nine fixtures in 2025-26.

Los Blancos’ strong showing this term can be attributed to the fact they boast a number of forward options, though there are rumours linking Vinicius Junior with a move away in the coming summer, and his impact on the pitch would have to be replaced if he moved on.

TEAMtalk report that both Real and City have ambitions of signing Olise, though add that Bayern intend to extend his contract, which lasts until 2029.

Olise has enjoyed an exceptional campaign so far, scoring five goals and providing four assists in nine games in all competitions.

The right-winger ended 2024-25 having netted 17 times and registered 18 assists for the Bavarians, with the attacker showing great promise alongside striker Harry Kane.

Having played for Crystal Palace in the Premier League for three seasons, the Frenchman has already been tested at the highest level domestically, and he has proven that he can play in both possession dominant and counter-attacking systems.

The 23-year-old is not as fast as the likes of Mbappe, but he is an exceptional passer, with the winger regularly creating chances from a variety of angles around the penalty area.

Real Madrid or Manchester City: Who should Olise sign for?

There is a possibility that Olise could play with Vinicius Junior given the latter has predominantly operated on the left flank, though it remains to be seen if the two could provide the necessary intensity without the ball, especially with Kylian Mbappe at times being given defensive freedom.

The Frenchman’s creative talents would significantly benefit Mbappe, who is at his best when he is regularly played through on goal by expert passers.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has shown he can link well with the talents such as Kevin De Bruyne, and he would be able to act as a focal point for Olise to play towards.

It should also be noted that Bayern appear to have improved from last season, with Kane arguably the best player in the world on form, so perhaps Olise should view staying in Germany for the next few years as his best option.
