Disney+ will soon rebrand Star as Hulu in all international markets, including Canada.

Disney says the change will go into effect on October 8 to more closely align the Disney+ platform worldwide ahead of a “fully integrated unified app experience” next year. A new Hulu tile will be introduced to replace Star, but otherwise, all of the actual streaming content will remain the same.

Star debuted on Disney+ in Canada in early 2021 as the Canadian version of Hulu, offering much of the U.S. streamer’s content. The Star section of Disney+ is home to a variety of Hulu titles, including Only Murders in the Building, The Kardashians, Futurama and Alien: Earth.

Alongside the Hulu rebrand, Disney says it’s planning some UX updates. This includes simpler navigation via a “For You” tab, more personalization recommendations, a more dynamic home page featuring characters from the given movie or show and Widgets on iOS. The company also teased more “mobile-first and mobile-exclusive experiences” to come “in the year ahead.”

In other Disney+ news, the company just expanded its Perks rewards program to Canada.
