NASCAR has released video footage of the incident that led to Spire Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar’s $50,000 fine.
The 22-year-old driver was hit with the hefty fine for putting safety personnel at risk during the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.
After spinning the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet on the 260th lap, Hocevar came to a stop on the backstretch with multiple flat tires. NASCAR stated that, “After safety personnel had arrived at the crash scene, officials indicated that Hocevar revved and spun his tires in an attempt to rejoin the field while those safety workers attended to his car.
“As a result of the violation of Sections 4.4.B&D: NASCAR Member Conduct in the NASCAR Rule Book, competition officials issued a $50,000 fine.”
NASCAR has since shared footage to show the reason for the penalty.

This isn’t the first time Hocevar has been hit with a financial penalty after his comments during a live Twitch stream ahead of the race in Mexico City, which he described as a “s**t h**e”, left him with another $50,000 fine.
“The issue wasn’t for the team having their kind of frustrations, not that I’m giving my opinion and putting it out there. It’s just the fact that, you know, my opinion wasn’t my opinion. It was just based off everybody else, you know, that I’ve heard or seen, right? I didn’t go do my own homework and voice my own opinion,” Hocevar explained at the time.

“I didn’t give it a shot, you know? I didn’t give it a chance – I didn’t go walk around, I didn’t go see. And when I did, you know, hindsight’s 20/20. Then I had my own opinion, but I had already put it out there.
“I think that was the biggest thing. I wasn’t doing what I pride myself on—having my own opinion, putting it out there, and being me. I just didn’t give it a fair shot. That’s where it all stems from.”
Hocevar is not competing in the 2025 Cup Series Playoffs. Chase Elliott currently leads the playoff standings heading into the race weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course. Below the cutoff line are Ross Chastain, Bubba Wallace, Tyler Reddick, and Austin Cindric.
