WEST FARGO — The first day of the Eastern Dakota Conference boys tennis individual tournament wrapped up Friday.

In the singles quarterfinals, No. 1 Julian Mallory from Grand Forks Red River defeated No. 8 Nicholas Angus from West Fargo Sheyenne 6-2, 6-2. No. 5 Leighton Heick from West Fargo Sheyenne defeated No. 4 Thor Cameron from Fargo Davies 6-4, 6-0.

No. 3 Brandt Aslakson from Sheyenne topped No. 6 Watson Nagel from Wahpeton 6-3, 6-1. No. 2 Joshua Wilkinson from Fargo South knocked off No. 7 Max Mecham from Grand Forks Red River 6-4, 6-3.

Mallory and Angus will square off, and Aslakson and Wilkinson will battle in the singles tournament semifinals at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Courts Plus in Fargo.

In the doubles quarterfinals, No. 1-ranked Jason Ling and Rylan Spicer from Grand Forks Central defeated No. 8 Brandt Bikic and Tyler Duffy from Sheyenne 6-1, 6-2.

No. 5 Carson Peterson and Jordan Clemenson from Sheyenne topped No. 4 Breckun Metcalf and Chase Johnson from Davies 6-4, 6-4.

No. 3 Alex Comings and Garnett Anderson from Wahpeton won 7-6(4), 7-5 over No. 6 Brady Fee and Kasen Panzer from Central.

No. 2 Arnav Panwalkar and Drew Burris from North defeated Red River’s Max McDonald and Gabe Schauer 6-1, 6-4.

Ling-Spicer and Peterson-Clemenson, and Comings-Anderson and Panwalkar-Burris will meet in the semifinals at 9 a.m. Saturday at Courts Plus.
