The Toronto Argonauts’ faint playoff hopes were dealt a tough blow with an injury to starting quarterback Nick Arbuckle.
On the first drive of the game, Arbuckle was sacked by Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive lineman Philip Ossai.
The Argonauts quarterback went into the medical tent and eventually was seen on the sideline with a sling on his right arm.
Jarret Doege would replace Arbuckle at quarterback and threw an interception on his third drive, which eventually led to a touchdown for the Tiger-Cats.
Toronto faced a 24-6 deficit in the second quarter and requires a victory to avoid elimination from the playoffs. The Argos also need one of Calgary, B.C. or Winnipeg to lose their remaining games in order to avoid a West team from crossing over and taking third place in the East Division.
Replacing the injured Chad Kelly at quarterback this season, Arbuckle has thrown for 4,370 yards, 26 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
