Toronto Argonauts quarterback Nick Arbuckle exited Saturday’s game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats early in the first quarter with an apparent injury.
Arbuckle had only been on the field for two downs before Tiger-Cats defensive lineman Philip Ossai hit him from behind, causing a fumble.
Hamilton ended up scoring on the turnover, jumping to a 10-0 lead.
The 32-year-old pivot then left the game while clutching his right wrist with Jarret Doege replacing him at quarterback. Arbuckle was later seen wearing a sling on his right wrist prior to the end of the first half.
Arbuckle has been a standout at the quarterback position for the Argonauts as Chad Kelly has missed the entire season while recovering from a fractured right tibia and fibula sustained during last year’s playoffs.
The 6-foot pivot has thrown for 4,370 yards with 26 touchdowns and 15 interceptions this season.
Toronto sits third in the East Division with a 5-10 record and needs a win in order to keep their faint playoff hopes alive and prevent a West crossover.
