Has the NFL ever played in London before? It might be easier to ask whether the league has put on any international games not in the capital of the United Kingdom.

Of the 50 international NFL regular season games that have taken place since 2007, a whopping 39 of them have been in London. Sunday’s clash between the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings will be the 40th iteration of the NFL’s “London Games.”

As the league has expanded its efforts to play more games in other countries – Ireland got its first NFL game this year, and the first NFL game in Spain is scheduled for November – London has remained a constant fixture in its annual international slate.

Sunday’s game will also be the first of three games to take place in the U.K. this season. The next two weeks will also feature a London game early on the Sunday slate.
