Afghan mixed martial arts fighter Farid Basharat extended his undefeated streak to 14 wins after defeating Chris Gutiérrez of Guatemala in a UFC bout early Sunday.
Basharat earned a unanimous decision victory over Gutiérrez in the fight held in the United States, according to event organizers. The win marks another milestone in the rising fighter’s career.
The Afghan athlete, who competes in the bantamweight division, has remained unbeaten since turning professional. His previous victory came last year against Brazil’s Victor Hugo in a UFC event held in Abu Dhabi.
Basharat and his brother Javid Basharat, also a UFC fighter, are among the few Afghan-born athletes competing at the highest level of international mixed martial arts.
