‘The Algoma region is one of Ontario Envirothon’s most consistent participants,’ Jess Kaknevicius said

SooToday received the following letter from Forests Canada CEO Jess Kaknevicius

As the lead agency of the Ontario Envirothon, Forests Canada would like to congratulate Algoma region on their 30th Envirothon anniversary.

The Algoma region is one of Ontario Envirothon’s most consistent participants, regularly hosting 10 teams and 50 students to learn about forests, soils, wildlife, and aquatic ecosystems while developing critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

Envirothon students have always been some of the strongest environmental leaders. Through hands-on practical experience, students are empowered to come up with new solutions to some of our greatest environmental challenges. It is exciting to see such dedication in the Algoma region for the past 30 years, and we look forward to seeing these students grow and thrive in their respective fields of study.

Thanks to all the students, educators, volunteers, judges, and sponsors who have made Algoma Envirothon such a success over the years.
