Mr. Paige VanZant a.k.a. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Austin Vanderford, suffered his first Octagon loss last night (Sat., Oct. 4, 2025) at UFC 320, getting submitted by Ramiz Brahimaj in the second round inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (watch highlights).

Before the submission, Vanderford ate a brutal head kick from Brahimaj that instantly split him open — leaving a deep gash. While the nasty cut wasn’t fully visible on the broadcast, a post-fight photo quickly made the rounds online, showing just how gruesome the damage really was.

The wound looked deep enough to require dozens of stitches, though no official number has been confirmed yet. Vanderford, to his credit, tried to fight through the blood and pressure before ultimately being caught in a slick submission that forced the tap.

The loss snaps Vanderford’s two-fight winning streak, which included an impressive debut finish over Nikolay Veretennikov earlier this year at UFC Seattle (watch highlights). Now sitting at 13-3, the 35-year-old will likely need some recovery time before booking his return — and maybe a few extra stitches as souvenirs.
