A 31-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a stabbing on a transit bus in Brampton has been arrested.

The incident happened on Oct. 1.

Peel Regional Police say at about 9:30 p.m. that day two males got into a fight aboard a bus near Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive.

They say a man in his 20s was approached by another man he did not know and a physical altercation ensued. The suspect then started to attack the victim with an edged weapon, police say.

The victim was stabbed multiple times and sustained serious injuries, which were not life-threatening, they added.

The suspect, meanwhile, fled the area on foot.

Following a “continuous” investigation, Harpreet Singh, 31, of Brampton, was identified as the suspect.

On Oct. 4, he was arrested and charged with attempt murder. aggravated assault. assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, and breach of court order. He was held pending a bail hearing in Brampton.

“At the time of the offence, the accused was out on bail for unrelated charges,” police said in a news release.

“Investigators are advising the public that the accused acted alone and that there are no further public safety concerns in relation to this incident.”
