Construction on the Okotoks Pickleball and Tennis Centre (OKPTC) is progressing well, with a roof recently added to the structure.

Located on the north side of town near Meadow Ridge School, the facility is being built in two phases and will include indoor and outdoor pickleball and tennis courts, a restaurant and bar, a player lounge, and grandstand seating.

Board director Heather Coonfer says it’s been exciting to see the project take shape.

“It’s getting real, it’s pretty exciting. I’ve never been involved in anything like this, so it’s pretty exciting for me. Some of the guys are developers, so it’s old hat for them, but it’s fun to watch come to life.”

A summer of unpredictable weather caused some delays, but Coonfer remains optimistic that Okotokians will be able to use the facility by late spring 2026.

“The rain in July set us back probably six weeks, but we’re hoping to be open some time in May,” said Coonfer. “That’ll be phase one, and we’re hoping that phase two will be opening the following year. That will be the outdoor part of the facility.”

As construction continues, the OKPTC has launched memberships with early bird pricing.

Coonfer says the full facility design will be revealed in the coming weeks.

The OKPTC posts regular updates on its Facebook and Instagram pages.
