A new blockbuster trade proposal involving the Vancouver Canucks top trade target from the Anaheim Ducks has just come to the surface amid all the speculation about how general manager Patrik Allvin is going to upgrade the teams roster.
Every single day, Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford are doing the best they can to find solutions for the major holes in the lineup.
Most notably, they traded fan favorite power forward Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs in order to shed his contract and gain some cap space to make a bigger splash with acquiring a UFA.Trade Proposal between the Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks centered around Mason McTavish
Even though Allvin is focused on signing either Jack Roslovic or Victor Olofsson on the open market, it appears that their main target could come via a trade with the Anaheim Ducks.
The Canucks have been highly interested in Mason McTavish going back to the start of the 2024-25 NHL season, but as a young star in the NHL, it is highly unlikely the Ducks want to move on from him.
With the small rumblings that McTavish is being shopped, a new trade proposal has come to the surface that involves sending a first-round pick and top prospect Tom Willander to Anaheim for Mason McTavish. If the #Canucks are seriously considering Mason McTavish, or rather, if the Ducks are foolish enough to move him, this is probably a close template to a trade:
Younger roster player – Hoglander. Clears $3M to help sign McTavish long-term.
High-end prospect – Willander. Don’t think Lekkerimaki gets it done.
1st round pick – unprotected ups the value
The probability of Allvin being able to pull this off is obviously quite low, but out of all the mock trade proposals that have been written, this one seems to make the most sense for the Ducks to seriously consider.
