The Las Vegas Aces took a 3-0 series lead over the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals following a 90-88 win on Wednesday night.

A’ja Wilson hit the game-winning shot with 0.1 seconds left and the scored tied at 88.

“Get the ball to A’ja, and get out of the way,” said Becky Hammond of the final play.

Wilson finished with 34 points and 11 rebounds. She also shot 50% on contested shots while holding the Mercury to 18% on shots she contested.

Wilson said the Game 3 win was pivotal despite their series lead.

“I mean, under Becky, we’ve never won a Game 3. This was a must-win for us,” Wilson said. “Just for that sake. I feel like my biggest mentality and the thing that I relayed to my teammates is like, we just need to win one … win possessions, win the quarters, and then everything else will pan out.”

The Aces had a 17-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

2020 was the last year there was a sweep in the WNBA Finals.

“I’m not going to sugarcoat. We’ve got a tough road ahead,” Mercury coach Nate Tibbetts said, “but we’ve got to take it one game at a time.”

Game 4 is on Friday.Â
