Former Missouri Tiger John Tonje made his Summer League debut after missing time due to a sprained ankle in Las Vegas on Monday night. In 23 minutes for the Utah Jazz, the guard scored 16 points, three rebounds and three assists on 5-of-9 shooting from the field.
Tonje’s performance included a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer with 36 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to put Utah up 83-82 over the San Antonio Spurs, but it wasn’t enough for the dagger.
The Jazz went the distance with the Spurs through a thrilling overtime period, but San Antonio ultimately came on top with a 93-91 win inside Thomas & Mack Center.
Chicago Bulls 114, Indiana Pacers 105: Former Mizzou standout Caleb Grill received a DNP designation in Chicago’s win over Indiana.
Charlotte Hornets 87, Dallas Mavericks 69: Ex-Rock Bridge star Dajuan Harris Jr. played just three minutes in the Hornets’ 87-69 win over the Mavericks, adding a rebound and a block. Cooper Flagg did not suit up for Dallas.
Sacramento Kings 94, Phoenix Suns 76: Former Missouri basketball player DeMarre Carroll coached the Suns as they took on the Kings. The Suns struggled as Carroll’s squad suffered its second consecutive loss. One Suns player posted double figures — Ryan Dunn with 18 points.
Los Angeles Clippers 67, Los Angeles Lakers 58:Â Kobe Brown did not suit up for the Clippers’ matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. The forward is still nursing a right ankle contusion that has left him out of action since Friday’s win over the Houston Rockets. Another former Tiger, DaJuan Gordon, did not enter the game for the Lakers due to a coach’s decision.
