The Winnipeg Jets have placed forward David Gustafsson on waivers Thursday ahead of the team’s season opener tonight against the Dallas Stars.

Gustafsson, 25, had two goals and six points in 36 games with the Jets last season.

He is in the second season of a two-year, $1.67 million contract with an AAV of $835,000.

A second-round pick (60th overall) by the Jets in 2018, he scored his first NHL goal against the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 27, 2019.

The Tingsryd, Sweden has appeared in 149 career NHL games, scoring six goals with 20 points, all with Winnipeg.
