The Maple Leafs have undergone a massive makeover in the forward group, but they are still on the hunt for one specific player to fill a massive void.
He admitted there is no direct replacement for Marner, but that the money saved on an extension for the 28-year-old would let him add far more depth than Leafs Nation is used to.
Maple Leafs Still Searching For Dynamic Forward
The Leafs have been rumoured to be on the hunt for another top-six forward the entire off-season thus far, but with just over $2M in cap space currently available, they are also trying to move out some bodies to land another dynamic player.
According to The Fourth Period’s Dave Pagnotta, who appeared on the ‘Hello Hockey’ podcast, the Leafs are still looking to fill out Marner’s roster spot with someone externally.
“They’re still looking for a top six guy, they’d still like somebody on that right side.”
