We have a major development live from Chicago involving Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.

It’s a big scoop from the excellent journalist Jonathan Bernier of the Journal de Montréal, who reports that Kent Hughes was indeed very active (especially on the phone) this morning live from Chicago.

Hughes had a busy morning!

“The Journal was able to learn that the Canadiens’ general manager had a rather busy morning just a few hours after the team arrived in Chicago.

And it wasn’t to prepare for running the marathon that will take place in the Illinois metropolis on Sunday.”

Lane Hutson contract extension with the Montreal Canadiens: it really seems to be just a matter of minutes

“It seems that an agreement is imminent between the Canadiens and Lane Hutson.

Thursday night, Ryan Barnes, the defenseman’s agent, was seen with Kent Hughes on the walkway at Little Caesars Arena.”

– Jonathan Bernier

From this, it appears that the Montreal Canadiens could literally announce a contract extension for Lane Hutson today.

All of this is happening right now (probably in a hotel room) live from Chicago, as Martin St. Louis’s team prepares to face Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks.

Knowing that tomorrow is a “game day,” don’t be surprised if it’s announced and made official today!
