A selection of poems in English by Ukrainian-US writer, translator, and cybernetic linguist Yuriy Tarnawsky was released in the United States by JEF Books (Journal of Experimental Fiction) under the title “Extractions: Selected Poems” on Sept. 21, 2025.
The collection has a total of 369 pages, and includes the most famous and beloved poems from Tarnawsky’s long-standing career.
Tarnawsky is a writer, translator, linguist, and professor. He is one of the founders of the avant-garde Ukrainian association of diaspora writers, the New York Group, a member of the Writers’ Union of Ukraine, a member of the US group of innovative writers, and co-founder and co-editor of New Poems, the Ukrainian literary magazine in exile.
JEF Books was founded in 1986 by novelist Eckhard Gerdes to draw wider attention to current innovations in fiction. The publishing house releases general fiction issues approximately twice a year and also introduces readers to new novels — those “that most likely would find themselves locked out by the larger presses, who have no time for or interest in innovation anymore and only care about their bottom lines.”
