The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s tennis team held off the Ottawa Gee-Gees, 4-3, to win the 2025 OUA championship banner on Sunday, October 12 at Mayfair East.

After defeating the Brock Badgers 5-2 in quarter-final action and the Queen’s Gaels 6-1 in the semifinals, the Blues were up against an Ottawa Gee-Gees squad that upset the Waterloo Warriors in quarters and knocked off the defending champion Western Mustangs in the semifinals.

Despite dropping the lone doubles point with three narrow loses, the Blues bounced back in singles action to squeak out the win with victories in the No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 matches.

The win marks Toronto’s second OUA banner in the past three years. Veteran standout Rassam Yazdi was named the OUA player of the year for the second time in his career, while Lucas Mock earned rookie of the year honours.
