Max Verstappen remains in F1 title contention after Singapore GP, but Red Bull must find consistency as McLaren and Mercedes keep scoring strong points.

The 2025 Formula 1 championship battle remains wide open after the Singapore Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen still in mathematical contention despite failing to close the gap to Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The race at Marina Bay was expected to be a key moment for Verstappen, who entered the weekend trying to cut down his points deficit to Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. With only a handful of rounds left in th calendar, Red Bull must turn race pace into consistent results if the title challenge is to continue. From this stage onwards, every point will carry championship weight.

Singapore once again showed how unpredictable Formula 1 can be. The tight street layout, where Red Bull has usually struggled, saw Max Verstappen qualify second. However, George Russell was on another level, taking the race win ahead of Verstappen and Lando Norris. Although Verstappen couldn’t secure victory, his performance helped him reduce the championship gap to the McLaren drivers by a few points; keeping his title hopes alive heading into the next round.

The opposition remains consistent. McLaren and Mercedes are regularly scoring points with Piastri, Norris, and George Russell maintaining pace at the sharp end. For Verstappen, there is no margin for error. Each qualifying session, pit stop, and tyre choice from here will be pivotal. Upcoming races present a variety of challenges, from high-speed sections to complex technical corners, that will test both adaptability and execution under pressure.
