The men’s golf team tied for fourth place in Saint Francis University’s Red Flash Invitational last week.

New Haven was one of 11 teams competing in the two-day tournament and finished with two players placing in the top five.

Sophomore Tommaso Rossin led the Chargers and secured second place with an overall score of 205, just two strokes behind the first-place competitor. Rossin carded 66 in the first round, 70 in the second round and 69 in the final round. Right behind Rossin was freshman Max Pawloski who finished in third place with a score of 208. Pawloski shot 68, 74 and 66, respectively.

Junior Jack Breustch finished in 37th place with an overall score of 218 after he shot 70 in the first round, 76 in the second round and ended the final round with a score of 72. Junior Hermann Gavilan finished in 41st place. Gavilan shot 72, 72 and 76 and finished with an overall score of 220. Freshman Landon Arnold finished 46th overall with a score of 222.

Overall, the Chargers shot -7 in the first round, +11 in the second round and +3 in the final round.

The Chargers will be back in action on Oct. 20 when they compete in the Crusader Invitational. The tournament will be held in Worcester, Mass. and will take place over the course of two days. For more information, visit NewHavenChargers.com.
