GEORGETOWN, TEXAS – Oct. 15, 2025 – GFiber, formerly Google Fiber, will bring its high-speed internet service to Georgetown. At its Oct. 14 meeting, the Georgetown City Council approved a license agreement with GFiber, which allows for the installation, maintenance, and operation of a fiber optic network within the public right-of-way.

“Georgetown continues to attract innovative companies that share our commitment to quality and service,” Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder said. “GFiber’s investment strengthens our city’s digital infrastructure and gives residents more choice and reliability—key ingredients for a thriving community and economy.”

GFiber will offer Georgetown residents and small businesses reliable, high-speed, high-bandwidth internet service, which offers 1 Gig, 2 Gig, 3 Gig, and 8 Gig service without data caps, equipment fees, or annual contracts.

“Georgetown is a community with a strong sense of identity and a bright future,” said John-Michael Cortez, head of Government and Community Affairs at GFiber. “We’re excited to partner with city leadership to bring GFiber’s fast, reliable internet to residents and businesses. Connectivity is more than convenience—it’s essential for everyday living. We’re proud to be part of Georgetown’s success for years to come.”

GFiber is beginning the design and engineering phase and expects to start construction in 2026, with service becoming available as portions of the network are completed. Georgetown residents can sign up for availability updates at gfiber.com.
