Fresh off signing a new contract, Jonathan Kuminga will have to return some of his money to the league.

The incident occurred midway through the Warriors’ 118-111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in pre-season action on Tuesday night.

It started when Kuminga went in for a drive and made contact with a Portland defender, but no foul was called on the play. That prompted Kuminga to talk to and pursue referee Rodney Mott, leading to a technical foul and his ejection.

He had seven points, six rebounds and four assists in 18 minutes before being disqualified.

The 23-year-old averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists last season while playing 24.3 minutes a night. However, he only suited up for 47 games due to an ankle injury.

He signed a two-year, $46.8 million contract as a restricted free agent in the off-season after a drawn-out negotiation that bled into the start of the team’s training camp in late September.
