Kieron Conway and George Liddard meet in an intriguing battle for the British and Commonwealth titles at London’s famous York Hall.
Conway (23-3-1, 7 KOs) is on a career-best run of form, winning six in succession since his September 2022 defeat to Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams.
A split-decision triumph over Ryan Kelly secured the Commonwealth title in November 2024, while a fourth-round stoppage of Gerome Warburton in May saw him lift the Lonsdale belt.
Next in his path is Liddard (12-0, 7 KOs), one of the most highly rated rising stars in British boxing.
The 23-year-old Londoner boasts a unanimous decision win over Derrick Osaze, who handed Conway his first career defeat back in 2019. It’s one of the ingredients for a classic clash of generations, where Conway thinks he has too many ring smarts for a young opponent, who wants to blast through him and move on to bigger and better things.
“He talks a lot about wanting these belts. After I knock him out, I’ll give him these belts,” Conway said to his opponent. “I don’t believe the confidence at all. I think that he’s convinced himself, he’s looked in the mirror enough times and said these quotes that he keeps putting out there. I just don’t think that it’s true. I definitely don’t believe the hype. Friday night, I just want to shut him up.”
Liddard retorted: “I never shy away from a challenge and this is my next step. I can’t wait for it. I believe he hasn’t boxed someone with the ability I have. He’s been in with some good fighters. But the mixture that I have, I feel like I have all of the right ingredients of a great fighter. I can adapt to any fighter. I just do not believe that he’ll be able to live with me come Friday night.”
