The Toronto Raptors might see Angel Reese at one of their games in the near future, or at least watching from afar.
On Friday, the Raptors signed 22-year-old Julian Reese after he went undrafted this past summer. Coming off a four-year career at Maryland, Reese’s signing is a day after the Raptors opted to waive five players to cut their roster down ahead of next week.
The new signing is in fact the sibling of the two-time WNBA All-Star and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, who has become one of the biggest stars in the sport since her college days at LSU.
“LET’S GO JU!” the elder Reese tweeted in support of her younger brother, quote-tweeting Toronto media member Samson Folk.

Who are the Raptors getting in Julian Reese?
Reese, who stands 6-foot-9, averaged 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 26.4 minutes in 134 career games (102 starts) across four seasons at Maryland.
Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy expects the new signing to likely be waived shortly, giving him the clearance to go to Raptors 905 in the G League.
It’ll be an uphill battle for Reese to get regular NBA minutes, but the Raptors (and most NBA teams) have shown a tendency to at least experiment with players deeper in the organization’s depth chart. Last season, for example, the Raptors gave 23 different players at least one game in the NBA, meaning Reese should get every opportunity to prove his worth at the pro level.
