Initial reactions and Observations
Bayern played terribly in that second half and just about did enough to survive Dortmund negative football. The whole team was sloppy otherwise and collectively had a subpar outing.Individually speaking, props to Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Dayot Upamecano for carrying this team to the win.Look at the bright side, Bayern is now the only team with no losses and all wins left in the Bundesliga after this.
That’s all, everyone. We’ve got a busy week coming with Club Brugge in the middle of the week and Gladbach next weekend. Thanks for sticking around with us, speak to you all in a bit.
90+6’ — FULL TIME. REJOICE.
90’ — What do you mean five more minutes of this??
85’ — Goal. Terrible marking from the home side.
79’ — TOR! Bayern get a second goal! Harry Kane spots Luis Diaz way high up and pings the ball to him. The Colombian then takes his man on and crosses into the box where Michael Olise was to poke the ball home!
68’ — Just over 20 minutes to go and it’s been both a nailbiter and a snoozefest at the same time. Only in Der Klassiker.
55’ — It looks like Dortmund isn’t caring about winning anymore, and just foul Bayern’s players whenever they please. Disgusting to see.
45’ — Second half has kicked off!
Bayern have controlled the match so far, but it has been largely uneventful due to Dortmund’s setupHarry Kane once again proving that he’s Bayern’s savior, rising highest to head in a corner from *checks notes* Joshua Kimmich!?Bayern have looked out of sorts at different points throughout the match. Although Dortmund haven’t offered anything offensively, Bayern were uncharacteristically sloppy. They need to tighten up and look sharper.
45’ — Only one minute is added on.
36’ — Michael Olise combines with Aleksandar Pavlovic but his shot curls just wide of the post
22’ — TOR! Bayern have a corner and Kimmich swings it in which Harry Kane heads past Gregor Kobel!
10’ — The first 10 minutes saw Michael Olise get the ball clawed off his feet just as he was about to take a shot, while Joshua Kimmich let fire from distance but it hasn’t gone in.
Kickoff! — We are underway!
Lineups are out! Serge Gnabry is out of this match because of injury, and Nicolas Jackson takes his place at the 10. The rest of the lineup is pretty much straightforward.
The dreaded international break is behind us (there’s two more in the next two months) and Bayern Munich is finally back in action. They welcome a surprisingly stout Borussia Dortmund side that sit in second place, and without a single loss domestically.
Recent years have proved that this match is anything but easy, even with the lopsided head-to-head record in Bayern’s favor. It is also rare to see both Bayern and Dortmund as the two top teams (statistically speaking) in the league at the time of this match. In fact, the last time that both teams occupied the top two spots heading into the Klassiker was three weeks before Christmas 2021, and that finished in a 3-2 away win for the Bavarians.
In this match, however, Bayern’s sheer quality will overcome anything that Die Scwarzgelben can throw at the hosts.
Prediction: Bayern wins 4-1
