The glory days may be returning in New England.
Second-year quarterback Drake Maye has blossomed into a full-blown star for the Patriots, even breaking a record that belonged to the greatest football player of all time.
Unseen footage surfaces revealing Drake Maye’s impressive high school basketball highlights!
In the Patriots’ 31–13 dismantling of the Titans, Maye surpassed Tom Brady in a significant category after finishing the game 21-for-22 for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
The former third overall pick now owns the franchise record for the highest completion percentage in a single game (minimum 20 pass attempts) with a 91.3 completion percentage at Tennessee.
Brady previously held the record with an 88.5 percent completion rate against Jacksonville on December 27, 2009.
Maye became the first quarterback in New England history to complete over 90 percent of his passes in a game with at least 20 attempts.
When asked about the achievement after the game, he simply shrugged it off and gave a response that revealed a lot about his character as a player.
“I left some out there,” Maye answered.
Forget about surpassing Brady and setting records — Maye was more focused on the plays he missed. That says everything you need to know about the mindset of this MVP candidate.
Surpassing Brady wasn’t the only impressive feat on the day for Maye.
He joined elite company alongside Patrick Mahomes and Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks in NFL history under the age of 24 to record six consecutive games with 200-plus passing yards and a passer rating above 100.
Any time you join a list that only has Mahomes and Marino on it, you’re doing something right.

On the season, Maye has 1,632 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and two interceptions, while completing 74.2% of his passes. He also has 188 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Through seven weeks, the Patriots are 5-2 and sit atop the AFC East standings. Their next four games come against the Browns, Falcons, Buccaneers, and Jets.
Sunday’s win marked the Patriots’ third straight road victory in as many weeks — the first time in franchise history they’ve ever accomplished that feat.
After the game, head coach Mike Vrabel praised his quarterback for the way he’s commanding the offense and taking full control of the game.
“I think there is an athleticism to him that’s really, really cool,” Vrabel said. “I think he’s really accurate from all different spots, whether it’s in the pocket, off platform.
“He really has done a nice job so far spreading the football around. But there is an accuracy to him that has been really good for us.”

Vrabel then described Maye’s growth from last year to now.
“There is a lot of demand there from Josh (McDaniels) and myself and I think he’s responded to that as far as the leadership that he’s had to show this offense,” he explained.
“Kept talking about he wants to earn it. Well, I told him that he’s earned it. I think he doesn’t like something in practice, then he gets it fixed. If he wants a better Friday practice, he talks about it before we go out there on Friday. I think those guys respond to him and the things that he says and the way that he operates.”
The future in New England has never looked brighter since Brady left after the 2019 season. The New England Patriots of old may just be back thanks to their new star under center.
