AZUSA, Calif. – For the third consecutive week, Azusa Pacific was named PacWest Team of the Week, while goalkeeper Alexia Muniz earned Defender of the Week. Muniz had 12 saves across 2 competitive PacWest games and conceded only on a penalty kick against Concordia. Prior to the goal, she hadn’t been scored on in 974 minutes. The Cougars were Team of the Week again after defeating Westmont 1-0 and beating Concordia 2-1 on the road. APU is the only PacWest team to remain undefeated in conference play, and played 10 straight games without giving up a goal before Saturday’s match against CUI.

Here is what the PacWest had to say about the selections:

Azusa Pacific’s Alexia Muniz secured her tenth shutout of the season during a 1-0 win over Westmont before giving up her first goal in over six weeks in a 2-1 win over Concordia. She had six saves in each match (both season bests) to give her 12 for the week and 37 on the season. The junior faced 13 shots in each match and now has a 0.33 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.902. APU’s and Muniz’s scoreless streak came to an end after 974 minutes and just over 16 hours, but only on a converted CUI penalty kick.

Azusa Pacific is the Team of the Week for the third week in a row after vaulting into first place with a pair of PacWest victories. The Cougars slipped by Westmont 1-0 and upended fellow 2024 NCAA tournament squad Concordia, 2-1. The win over the Warriors was APU’s tenth consecutive shutout, breaking a school record held by Cougar squads from 2001 and 2013. They got their lone score in the 22nd minute from Haley-Scott Recarte and the defensive work from Alexia Muniz (six saves). Against the Golden Eagles, APU scored twice in the first half via Zoey Kuhn and Faith Crouse to earn their first win over Concordia in eight years. APU is now all alone in first place with a 5-0 PacWest record, and they are 8-1-3 overall.
