Alex de Minaur is safely into the second round of the Vienna Open after overcoming wildcard Jurij Rodionov in round one.

De Minaur is the third seed at the ATP 500 tournament, and has progressed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Rodionov.

Australian star De Minaur just withdrew from UTS Hong Kong, citing a hip injury as the reason behind his last-minute decision.

But he has declared himself fit enough to return to the ATP Tour at the Vienna Open, where he is currently chasing a second title of the season.

The world number seven claimed his only title of 2025 in Washington, which took him into double figures for his career.

De Minaur has now reached another significant milestone at the Vienna Open, where he’s just clinched his 300th ATP Tour win.

He’s just the second man born in 1999 or later to reach the number after four-time Grand Slam champion Jannik Sinner.

Reacting to the superb achievement, the Australian said: “It’s pretty cool. You go through this sport, through your career, and you don’t really get time or many options to really let something sink in.

“This is one of those things that is a pretty cool moment, to get to 300. Obviously, it seems what has been a long career and I’ve enjoyed these 300 wins.”

What Alex de Minaur has done better than any other ATP player this season

Along with his 300 wins, De Minaur has suffered 174 losses, while he managed to rise to sixth in the world rankings once upon a time.

Now just one spot below his career-best, the 26-year-old is clearly enjoying his tennis, despite his frustrating hip issue.

And his fantastic season is likely only going to get better, with De Minaur closing in on a spot at the ATP Finals.

Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic have already qualified for Turin next month, with the Australian currently seventh in the standings.

He does indeed have another figure to celebrate, as De Minaur leads the way for hard-court wins this season on 38.

It’s a surface he evidently enjoys playing on, while his 51 overall wins place him second in the list behind only Alcaraz.
