AEW President Tony Khan has addressed the rumors that Adam Copeland is returning to WWE for one last match against John Cena.

Speaking to Josh Martinez of Z100 New York, Tony Khan reacted to claims that he has allowed Adam Copeland to have one last match against John Cena in WWE. Khan stated that he hopes Copeland competes in a lot more matches “in AEW,” and hailed the Rated R Superstar as a huge part of the company.

“I hope Adam Copeland has a lot more matches in AEW. Adam Copeland’s a huge part of AEW.”

Tony Khan further stated that FTR ruined what could’ve been a perfect homecoming for Copeland and Christian Cage at All Out in Toronto by attacking Beth Copeland. He then confirmed that Copeland is absent from AEW as he’s filming a new project, and that he hopes The Rated R Superstar will return to the company soon to take care of business in the ring.

“We just had a great AEW All Out event, and it was great for a lot of people, but, in many ways, what should’ve been a great homecoming for Christian Cage and Adam Copeland was marred by FTR. FTR attacking Beth Copeland, they conducted themselves very unbecomingly… not sportsmanlike at all, and not the way to treat somebody who’s been a friend of yours.”

“Adam’s out filming right now. He’s a huge star in AEW. We love having Adam Copeland, The Rated R Superstar, in AEW, and I’m excited for him to be back in AEW, hopefully soon after this project is done, and he’s taken care of business, and then Adam will come back, and we’ll get Adam Copeland taking care of the business in the ring in AEW.”

Earlier reports claimed that Adam Copeland has taken some time off from AEW to film season three of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, in which he plays the role of Ares. Khan’s remarks seemed to back that up, although he didn’t confirm the project by name.
