NATCHITOCHES, La. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s tennis team began their run at the Southland Conference (SLC) Fall Championships Thursday at the Lady Demon Tennis Complex.
Juniors Paolo Bonaguro and Will Roberts dominated in their first round match, winning 6-0, 6-2, against Arthur Oliani and Felipe Spagnuolo from Nicholls (NU) to advance to the semifinals.
Junior Santiago Serrano earned a swift 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 4 seed Colin Tavares from Nicholls to advance to the semifinals.
The Vaqueros will continue their run at the SLC Fall Championships tomorrow as Bonaguro and Roberts are slated to face No.1 seed duo of Alejandro Hernandez and Emilio Vila from Incarnate Word (UIW) in the semifinals Friday at 9 a.m.
Serrano is scheduled to face Hernandez, the No. 1 seed, in the semifinals at 11 a.m.
