A number of tennis stars have seen their seasons end early recently as concerns around the tennis schedule continue to grow.

Top stars from both the ATP and WTA tours have voiced their frustrations with the packed schedule lately, with Iga Swiatek calling the calendar ‘crazy’.

Taylor Fritz weighed in on the debate following Holger Rune’s Achilles injury at the Stockholm Open, stating injuries and burnout are more prevalent now ‘than ever before’.

Former Grand Slam semifinalist Tamara Zidansek became the latest to feel the effects of the schedule when she ended her 2025 campaign this week, explaining she needed some time off to ‘recharge’.

Now, a former top 15 men’s player has also decided to call a halt to his season amid injury struggles.

Borna Coric ends his 2025 season amid injury struggles

Former US Open quarterfinalist Borna Coric has made the difficult decision to end his 2025 season, having dealt with an injury since the US Open.

Coric, who reached a career-high ranking of 12th in the world in 2018, lost in the first round at Flushing Meadows this year to Jiri Lehecka and has not appeared at an ATP event since.

In a post on Facebook, the Croatian explained his absence from the tour.

He said: “Hi everyone, unfortunately, my season ended right after the US Open. We tried everything possible to get me back on court and be ready for the last few tournaments of the year, but it just wasn’t meant to be.

“Thank you all for your support, it means a lot. I’m really disappointed to finish the season with an injury, but I truly believe my team and I will find the right way forward and come back ready for next season.”

Coric has featured at 10 ATP events this season, the first of which was the United Cup in January, where he picked up one win against Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Since then, however, he has not managed to claim a victory in each tour-level competition he has appeared at.

Though he is 1-8 on the ATP Tour this year, Coric has enjoyed some success at Challenger level, winning four titles.

He has triumphed in Lugano, Thionville, Zadar, and Aix-en-Provence, where he denied Stan Wawrinka the chance to become the oldest Challenger Tour champion in history.
