York Regional Police are investigating after an overnight shooting in a residential neighbourhood near Hwy. 27 and Langstaff Rd.
York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses after two Vaughan homes were shot at early Friday morning.
The first shooting, police said, occurred in the area of Camomile Street and Medallion Boulevard. Reports from the scene suggest bullet holes are visible in the front door of a home on Camomile Street.
“When officers arrived, they observed visible damage to the front of a residence,” police wrote in a news release. “It was reported that a dark-coloured sedan was seen fleeing the scene.”
The suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers, police said.
A second shooting occurred at around 5:50 a.m. in the area of Gregory Scott Drive and Thomas Creek Boulevard.
Both homes were occupied at the time, police noted. However, no injuries were reported in either incident.
In a post to social media, Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca, said “these incidents leave people on edge, fearful about their safety.”
He also thanked Ottawa and Prime Minister Mark Carney for their recent pledge to toughen the criminal justice system.
“Reform is needed ASAP and is long overdue,” he said. “I also urge all law enforcement partners, provincial governments and federal opposition MPs to work together to deliver real safety for Vaughan and all communities across the country.”
Investigators have not released any suspect information at this time but say officers are in the area canvassing for witnesses.
Const. James Dickson tells CP24 that there is “no indication” the two incidents are linked.
