“Been trying to wrap my mind around what happened yesterday and the road ahead,” Streveler said on his Instagram page. ‘All I know is this: I have no regrets about the way I carried myself as a teammate and leader day in and day out. About how I worked every day to get better. About how I treated everyone around me. I never cheated the process and laid it on the line every single time I stepped on the field.”

Streveler left the game against the Montreal Alouettes early in the first quarter with a lower-body injury. The injury occurred with less than 11 minutes remaining in the first quarter.

The team’s formal comment on X (formerly Twitter) stated Streveler ‘will not return to today’s game.’ After the game, there was no official update.

“It was gut-wrenching. He’s a brother to me,” Bombers right guard Pat Neufeld said shortly after his team’s19-10 win over the Alouettes. “I love that guy and, more than a teammate, you feel for him as a human.”

Streveler dropped back to pass, but eventually decided rolling to his left was a better decision. The injury appeared to be non-contact in nature as Streveler fell to the turf at the Winnipeg 19-yard line trying to execute a cut move to his right, pushing off with his left leg with Montreal defensive end Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund closing in.

“I don’t know exactly what happened, but he’s hurt and he’s emotional and losing him sucks,” Neufeld said. “He’s a huge part of our team and our identity.”

After Streveler spent several minutes on the turf, the medical staff assisted him to the sidelines, and eventually into the south end passageway that leads to the locker room.

After the game, Streveler was seen walking in the locker room with the assistance of crutches, not putting any weight on his left knee. He was not wearing a knee brace or a cast or any kind. He limped over and sat down in his stall next to Zach Collaros. Collaros did not dress for Saturday’s game.

Streveler tore three of the four major ligaments in his left knee in the Banjo Bowl against the Saskatchewan Roughriders last September.

There are plenty of unknown variables surrounding the injury: The nature of the injury, the severity of the injury, and the estimated timeline for recovery.

But there is one thing that is known by his teammates and the coaching staff: “I’d never bet against that guy. He’s tough, so we’ll see,” said head coach Mike O’Shea.

“It’s a tough game. It can be cruel sometimes, but I’ll never doubt (Streveler’s) resolve, his determination. We’ll see where this goes.”

The 30-year-old went 1-for-2 for 13 yards passing yards before he departed in favour of Terry Wilson.

Streveler is known for his fiery competitiveness, never-say-die attitude, and positive disposition. His reaction to the situation is another example of his glass half full mentality.

“I’m not sure what the future looks like, but I’m confident there’s better things waiting for me on the other side of this recovery,” he said. “I hope that my journey and mindset can inspire others to persevere through adversity just like I have done and will continue to do. Thank you, as always, for all the support and everyone that reached out, it means more than you know.”

The Bombers will be in Montreal next Saturday for the East crossover game against the Alouettes.

“We’re going to go do this for him, we’re going to have him in our hearts, and I know he’s going to be there with us,” Neufeld said.

The four-year CFL veteran dressed for 17 games this season, completing 92 of 144 pass attempts for 1,090 yards, six touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The Crystal Lake, Ill., native had nine rushing touchdowns on 301 yards rushing.
