The CFL is moving its schedule up one week in 2027, a spokesperson has confirmed to 3DownNation.

The adjustment was unveiled on Monday as part of the announcement for the location of the 114th Grey Cup, which has been awarded to Regina, Sask. The game will be played on Sunday, November 7, 2027, making it the earliest Grey Cup of all-time.

“We picked November 7. We have moved the season up earlier, it will start earlier. We’re focused on the 2026 schedule. But yes, it is going to land earlier, a week earlier than it has been recently. 2026 is locked and loaded, Calgary’s had that date for a long time,” CFL commissioner Stuart Johnston said.

In 2025, rookie camps opened across the country on May 7 with training camps commencing four days later on May 11. The preseason took place from May 19 to May 30 with the deadline for final roster cuts on May 31. The regular-season then started on Thursday, June 5 when the Ottawa Redblacks visited the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

With everything being moved up one week in 2027, this means rookie camps are expected to start at the end of April with the preseason getting underway the second week of May. The regular-season would also assumedly begin during the final week of May, which could bring an end to the league’s long-used offseason tagline, “Is it June yet?”

There are no scheduling changes coming for 2026 as the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary, Alta. is set for Sunday, November 16, 2026, which is consistent with the timing for 2025.
