The Odlum Brown VanOpen is making a comeback.
Tournament organizers shared the good news on Wednesday, as the professional tennis event will return to West Vancouver in 2026 following a four-year hiatus.
“We are thrilled to bring professional tennis of this calibre back to Vancouver,” said Odlum Brown VanOpen tournament chair Carlota Lee. “Our tournament has always held a special place for players who love competing here and for fans who get to experience top-level tennis in an intimate, energetic setting. It’s a magical feeling, and we’re confident the 2026 event will be something special.”
The tournament will take place at Hollyburn Country Club from July 26 to Aug. 2, 2026, and includes both men’s ATP Challenger 125 and women’s WTA 125 tournaments.

Western Canada’s biggest tennis event was held for the first time in 2002, but has been staged just once this decade.
The pandemic was responsible for cancelling the 2020 and 2021 tournaments, while Hollyburn Country Club renovations forced the cancellation of the 2023, 2024, and 2025 events. There was an effort to temporarily move the tournament to Burnaby in 2023, but without success.
The 2022 event was tremendously successful, with players being greeted by sold-out crowds.

This tournament has featured many future stars in the past.
Maria Sharapova won the inaugural VanOpen in 2002, just three years before she became the No. 1 women’s player in the world. Johanna Konta is a two-time winner (2013 and 2015), before she reached a career-high No. 4 in the world in 2017.
Jessica Pegula, the current world-ranked No. 5 player, was a runner-up at the 2012 tournament.
Vasek Pospisil won the men’s tournament in 2013, while Leylah Fernandez made the semi-finals in 2019.
Other future stars that played in the West Vancouver tournament include Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, and Tommy Paul on the men’s side, along with Elena Rybakina, Madison Keys, and Jasmine Paolini in the women’s tournament.
“Canadian tennis is thriving, and having Vancouver back on the professional circuit adds even more meaningful depth to our national landscape,” said Tennis Canada CEO Gavin Ziv. “The Odlum Brown VanOpen has always been a special event – one that connects elite competition with passionate fans and reinforces the strength of tennis from coast to coast.
“Events like this one are crucial to the development of a first-class tennis ecosystem and competitive pipeline. They play a critical role in player development by providing an opportunity for valuable match experience, WTA and ATP rankings points, and strengthening a structured pathway which aligns with our vision of developing the next generation of global champions.”
