What is White Lotus without sexually fraught pool scenes? Are we about to find out?

The White Lotus’ friendship ended with Four Season Hotels. Now other five-star resorts are their best friend. According to Variety, Mike White’s grand hotel anthology series is checking out many, many properties on the French Riviera for its upcoming shoot. That’s right, White Lotus season 4 isn’t a Four Seasons season. Since Hawaii, the show has used Four Seasons resorts as their locations. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui Anatara Koh Samui stood in for the White Lotus in Thailand. Four Seasons Resort Taormina was the White Lotus Sicily. And Four Seasons Resort Maui and Wailea was the Hawaiian locale. Fun fact: that’s also where Modern Family did its Hawaiian vacay. But for season 4’s reported French jaunt, HBO is looking at all sorts of spots.
Mike White said in an “after the episode” video that he was ready to ditch the watery graves of past White Lotus seasons. “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular,” he said. “But there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.” Per Variety, location scouts are checking out Le Lutetia and the Ritz in Paris. There’s also a distinct possibility of beach scouts in Monaco and Nice. Hey, you know who already lives in France and deserves an Emmy-winning late career dramatic turn? Wanda Sykes.
